How to Put One Compelling Reason Into a Follow-Up Email

Most follow-up emails remind prospects that an agent is still available. They don’t give the prospect anything useful to think about.

You can make your next email more valuable by adding one Compelling Reason. This helps the prospect understand why working with you could make their next step easier, safer, or more successful.

This workshop will help you write that email without turning it into a long sales message.

01By The End Of This Workshop

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a short follow-up email built around one Compelling Reason.

02What You'll Learn

  • Why empty follow-up emails are easy to ignore
  • How one Compelling Reason adds useful value
  • How to ask for a simple reply without sounding pushy

03The Problem

A prospect asks a question, visits your website, attends an open house, or has a short conversation with you. A few days later, you send an email that says:

“I wanted to follow up and see if you have any questions.”

The email is polite, but it gives the prospect little reason to respond. It repeats something they already know: you’re available.

It also misses a chance to show what makes your help valuable. If several agents are following up, the messages can start to sound alike. Your name might appear in the inbox, but your value is still easy to forget.

04The Simple Lesson

Give the follow-up email a useful job. Use it to connect the prospect’s situation with one Compelling Reason.

A simple email can follow this order:

  • Reconnect: Mention the conversation, question, property, or next step.
  • Add value: Share one Compelling Reason that fits the prospect’s situation.
  • Invite a reply: Ask one easy question that helps the conversation continue.

Keep the Compelling Reason specific and credible. Don’t fill the email with every service you offer. The goal is to help the prospect notice and remember one useful difference.

The closing question should also be easy to answer. Instead of asking if they have “any questions,” ask about the next choice they’re likely to make.

05Real Estate Example

Imagine a homeowner who is thinking about selling but hasn’t decided when to begin.

An agent could write:

“It was good talking with you about your possible move. One part of my process is helping sellers identify the updates that could matter to buyers before they spend money on improvements. If you’d like, I can help you sort the useful updates from the ones that might not be worth doing. Is there one project you’re already considering?”

This email does more than announce that the agent is available. It gives the homeowner a Compelling Reason to continue the conversation and offers an easy way to reply.

06What This Means For Your Marketing

Your 12 Compelling Reasons To Do Business With You can do more than fill space on your website. They can improve follow-up emails, lead nurture, past-client messages, and other prospect conversations.

Use the Compelling Reason that best fits what the prospect is thinking about now. A buyer, seller, investor, or past client might each need a different message.

When the same Compelling Reasons also appear on your website, in social content, and through Virtually Branded Scenes, Spaced Repetition can help those messages become more familiar and easier to remember.

075-Minute Action Step

Choose one prospect you need to follow up with and one Compelling Reason that fits that person’s situation.

Complete this short email:

Subject: A quick thought about [topic]

“It was good talking with you about [situation]. One way I help is [one specific Compelling Reason]. This can help you [prospect benefit]. Would it help if we talked about [one easy next topic]?”

Read the email once. Remove anything the prospect doesn’t need. Then check that the Compelling Reason is accurate, useful, and easy to understand.

Five minutes is the goal, not a cutoff. Take a little extra time if more research or thought will improve your result.

08Your Result

You now have a follow-up email that adds value instead of sending another empty reminder. You can reuse the same structure with a different Compelling Reason for other prospects.

09Put It To Work

A useful follow-up can restart a conversation. A recognition campaign can help prospects remember your value before and after that email arrives.

Virtually Branded Scenes pair your website with your 12 Compelling Reasons To Do Business With You. Visual Social Proof and Spaced Repetition then help those messages become more familiar, recognizable, and memorable over time.
