5 Minute Workshops
How to Turn Behind-the-Scenes Work Into Prospect Benefits
Some of your best work happens where clients never see it. You study activity, prepare questions, check details, follow up, compare options, and watch for possible problems.
That work can save time, reduce surprises, and make decisions easier. But prospects can’t value it if they don’t understand what it does for them.
In this workshop, you’ll turn one valuable task into a prospect benefit that can become a Compelling Reason.
01By The End Of This Workshop
By the end of this workshop, you’ll have one draft Compelling Reason that connects a task clients rarely see to a benefit a buyer or seller can understand.
02What You'll Learn
- Why valuable work is easy for prospects to overlook
- How to connect a task to a client benefit
- How to explain your value without relying on self-praise
03The Problem
You know how much work happens before a client call, meeting, showing, or update. The prospect doesn’t.
They see the final result, but they often don’t see the preparation behind it. This can make one agent look a lot like another.
Listing activities such as research, follow-up, planning, and transaction coordination doesn’t solve the problem. The prospect still has to figure out why those activities matter.
Most prospects won’t take the time to make that connection. Saying, “I work hard,” doesn’t help much either. It asks them to trust your claim without showing what they get from your work.
A Compelling Reason closes that gap by turning the work you do into a benefit the prospect can understand.
04The Simple Lesson
Start with the task, but don’t stop there.
Ask three simple questions:
- What do I do that clients rarely see?
- What problem does this help reduce, or what does it help them understand?
- What useful result does the client get?
Then use this simple structure:
I [specific action], so you can [prospect benefit].
For example:
I review showing feedback and activity each week, so you can see what buyers are responding to and decide what to adjust next.
The first half explains the work. The second half explains why it matters.
Choose a task you really perform and a benefit you can support. You don’t need a big promise. A specific, believable benefit is stronger than a vague claim about great service.
05Real Estate Example
Imagine two agents explaining how they communicate with sellers.
The first agent says, “I provide weekly updates.” That sounds useful, but most sellers might expect it.
The second agent explains the work behind the update. The agent organizes showing feedback, looks for repeated comments, and reviews the week’s activity. The seller gets a short explanation instead of a pile of scattered information.
That could become this Compelling Reason:
I organize showing feedback and weekly activity into a short update, so you can quickly see what buyers are responding to and decide what to do next.
Now the seller can understand the value of the update before hiring the agent.
06What This Means For Your Marketing
Your behind-the-scenes work can provide useful material for your 12 Compelling Reasons To Do Business With You.
Don’t pack every task into one message. Choose one task and connect it to one clear client benefit. That gives the prospect one useful idea to understand and remember.
You can place that Compelling Reason on your website, in an email, in a social post, or with a Virtually Branded Scene.
Visual Social Proof and Spaced Repetition can then help prospects connect that benefit with your website and your business over time.
075-Minute Action Step
Write down three valuable tasks you perform that clients might never see. Circle the one that provides the clearest benefit.
Complete these two prompts:
- This helps my client understand, reduce, or avoid __________.
- That means my client can __________.
Now combine the task and benefit:
I [specific action], so you can [prospect benefit].
Read it out loud. If the sentence focuses mostly on you, make the client benefit clearer.
Five minutes is the goal, not a cutoff. Take a little extra time if more research or thought will improve your result.
08Your Result
You should now have one draft Compelling Reason that helps a prospect understand the value of work they might never see.
09Put It To Work
One useful Compelling Reason is a good start. Repeating this process can help you build 12 Compelling Reasons To Do Business With You based on the real work you already perform.
Virtually Branded Scenes can pair each Compelling Reason with your website and place it inside a 12-week recognition campaign. Prospects repeatedly see your website, your message, and a clear client benefit working together.
